Domboshava residents say they want local legislators in 2023 as those from outside have failed them.
The residents say they have had a string of leaders from outside who have failed to bring about development.
One Tonde Mrape narrated how Domboshava has never had a local resident as legislator.
“Ushewokunze was from Masvingo; the 3rd MP for Goromonzi was Herbert Murerwa who came from Chinyika.
“He was MP for 15 years.
“The 4th MP for Goromonzi West, Beatrice Nyamupinga comes from Chiweshe.
“She was MP for 10 years.
“The 5th MP for Goromonzi West/ Domboshava is the current Energy Mutodi who comes from Bikita in Masvingo Province,” he said.
Other residents supported the move saying the election of leaders from outside has negated growth.
“That is true, we have guys like Luke Tamborinyoka and former Ward 4 Councilor Clifford Nhamburo.
“Well known community members but we still make the same mistakes, we need a change,” added one Viller Brown.
Another resident Vanessa Chipurunyenye added that the move towards local residents for leadership positions was progressive.
Domboshava has suffered an acute lack of development despite the frenetic rush for land in the area by many people from nearby Harare.
Many areas still lack tape water and roads while there is little infrastructure of note.
The increase in the number of new stands has created pressure on the few services that are available.
