Prominent Marondera space Stembile Musikavanhu has been blacklisted by the Marondera Council and no longer allowed to acquire any operating space.
This follows allegations of fuelling disharmony at the main bus terminus in town where she was operating from.
The space baron, commonly known as Mai Kiri also stands accused of smuggling-in partisan politics whenever she is confronted by authorities of her alleged shenanigans.
It emerged during a recent full council meeting that the space baron woul illegal allocate herself extra land from that she would have been given by the local authority.
Musikavanhu allegedly went on to sub-divide it before subletting to other desperate residents whom she charged in hard currency although council was charging her in local currency.
She was allegedly charging between US$100 to US$200 depending on the size of the space.
She would pocket US$2 000 monthly
On average, Musikavanhu pocketed nearly US$2 000 every month and is reportedly building a mansion in Lendy Park, Marondera’s low-density residential area, allegedly with proceeds from her illicit space deals.
In December last year, Marondera Open Council reported that lawlessness at Marondera Bus Terminus was depriving council a lot of money in potential revenue after space barons took over all open spaces and rented them out to vendors.
The matter was deliberated in one of the full council meetings where councillors said politicians and top government officials in Marondera were behind the sprouting of the illegal structures where they are subletting in foreign currency.
The area Councillor, Saizi Vilela, said the lawlessness has resulted in council losing revenue to space barons.
“The lawlessness at the rank is making council lose a lot of money. The space barons are charging US$120 per cabin. This week we destroyed the illegal structures and the next day we found some people erecting some structures again”.
