Thieves raided Rudhaka Stadium before stealing goal posts from the outside training grounds.
Open Council Marondera visited the football pitch and noted that both goal posts were missing.
It is reported that the the culprits could have sold the goal posts to either welders or scrap metal dealers.
Marondera Council is being accused neglecting the training pitch,located near the main ground hence thieves taking advantage.
Marondera Mayor Simbarashe Nyahuye yesterday confirmed the theft and said the matter is under police investigations.
Nyahuye added that the thieves also stole goal posts from council schools’ grounds.
“It’s true that some thieves stole goal posts at the pitch at Rudhaka Stadium.
“The suspects also stole goals posts from our schools’ ground in Nyameni and Cherutombo.
“The matter is currently under investigations by the law enforcers,” he said.
The theft of goal posts have dealt a major blow to a number of youths in Marondera who used the pitch to play social soccer.
