Zimbabwe National Road Rehabilitation (ZINARA) has disbursed $790,000 RTGS against $1.58 million requested by Marondera municipality for routine roads mantainance.
Marondera Municipality Road Engineer Mr Mashonganyika said money availed by Zinara has covered only 15km pothole patching, 15km road marking and 150 meters drain lining.
“There are several financial packages put in place to make sure roads are put in good shape.
“We have recieve $790,000 RTGS from Zinara against $1.58 million RTGS which we have been requested.
“However the availed money is going to cover the following, 15km pothole patching, 150 metrers drainage lining , 15km road markings around CBD and arterial roads which cost $250,000,” he said.
Engineer Mashonganyika break down their budget as follows, hand tools and protective clothing cost $200,000 RTGS, while cement and concrete cost $150, 000 RTGS. Bitumen emulsions goes for $240,000 RTGS.
“We have major plans to rehabilitate other unidentified industrial roads namely Antwerp road which need to reconstructed and Birmingham way which need pothole patching and reseal.
“For major works we contracted a company called Jepnik Investments (Pvt) Ltd.
“We are also aware that roads in high density suburbs are extensively damaged,” said Engineer Mashonganyika.
